Our first memories of the park aren't about the beautiful lake, or the pine groves, or the games, or the rides. Our first memories aren't about the interesting people, some with a brogue, or even about the world famous graphologist Miss Kay. Our first memories are about our father standing at the park's entrance, saying to us, "hop up and hang on tight" as he would slowly close the gate, giving us a ride.
Pictured below are Gabby Hayes with Maurice Holland, Jr., Jerry Colonna, Zippy, Howdy Doody t.v. pals poster, Frank Sinatra and the audience.

UPDATE: To see the Salem High School Jazz Ensemble's June 10, 2007 performance at the ballroom, please visit www.YouTube.com search Canobie Ballroom.
Lots of fun to see these talented young musicians and singer perform Glenn Miller favorite - String of Pearls and Andrews Sisters' Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. Leading into this performance is a great old picture postcard of the ballroom showing how it looked when Glenn Miller and his orchestra performed there in 1942. Well worth the visit.
